Two NHL prop targets for Wednesday night: Betting shots and goals

All of our goal scorers came through yesterday, giving merit to the idea that when we like a player for shots, we should extend that love for him to also score a goal.

Tonight on the ice offers us just two games, but fret not, there's some value on the board.

William Nylander & Rickard Rakell over 2.5 SOG (+147 DK)

William Nylander and the Maple Leafs will host the Flyers tonight, who will be playing the second night of a back-to-back. Philly is allowing the third-most shots per game at 35.9, so turning to some Toronto shots is a logical landing spot.

Plus, factor in we're likely to see backup goalie Felix Sandstrom and Toronto should be plenty motivated to get pucks on net. 

Nylander sure is happy to be back in the confines of Scotiabank Arena after a five-game road trip for the Leafs. At home, Nylander has gone over 2.5 shots on goal in all four games this season and 12 of his last 13.

As we'll get to below, we're betting Nylander to capitalize on this volume and bury one in the net. He had three goals in three games against the Flyers last year and he's scored in two of four home games this season. Philadelphia is one of the most generous teams to RW shots, the spot Nylander resides on Toronto's second line.

Nylander's odds at 2.5 are no good, so we'll look to the next game and pair him with Rickard Rakell of Pittsburgh.

Buffalo is allowing 32.9 shots per game and the Penguins as a team fire off shots at one of the highest clips in the league. Rakell is over 2.5 in eight of ten this season, averaging 4.4 shots/game in his past five.

His attempts are rock-solid as well, averaging 6.5 per game this season, and he's piled up 17 SOG in his last three road games.

Rakell has five goals this year and brings us some nice value on his prop considering the volume he's working with in this offense.
