  i saw jake shields win the rumble on the rock tournament down here in hawaii against some good guys and he became a favorite of mine ever since. the kid got heart and he can fight. he was a great champ for the Elite XC and it sucks the folded. im real surprised he aint in the UFC by now. JAKE SHIELDS hands down.

Cung isn't well rounded enough so I'd go with Diaz cause he talks sh8t and he's going to all out fight there is no "snooze fest" fight when it involves him

I have to go with Babalu and here's why:
1) You never know if he's just going to snap and decide not to let go of a choke
2) He flat out looks crazy
3) He's been on a tear as of late, wherever he's been fighting
4) He's the first name that came to Frank's mind in the piece, so obviously he thinks Babalu is the best... next to himself, of course...
5) No one else has mentioned him yet...

I'm going to go out take a fighter new to the Strikeforce stable: Gina Carano. Not only is she undefeated and shows great talent and potential, she is helping bring MMA to a new breed of fans-women. Any fighter who is helping expand this sport and bring it to a new level is worth mentioning, and she has been able to back up any accolades she has received with her performances in the cage.

Oh yea, she looks alright too.

If Cung Le gave as much dedication to his fighting as he does to his acting career he could be one of the greatest athletes that has ever ran through Strikeforce. There has yet to be a contender including Frank Shamrock to take away his title. Renato Sobral AKA "Babalu" should not even be a contender. This is a professional sport for which great athletes get paid for and if you cant act like a professional and lose your UFC contract over a stupid decision in the cage and therfore drop down to Strifeforce and Affliction as an only career option I'm not considering you one of the greatest. Besides not 1 of the 5 reasons eskimo listed have anything to do with making you a great fighter. I cant consider Diaz as the greatest fighter because Shamrock is going to to be victorious in that bout in april. Diaz has great and i mean fantastic BJJ but his stand up just doesnt match Shamrocks and although Franks BJJ is no where near that of diaz he knows well enough to keep himself out of any submission. So with all that being said i would have to say unless Cung Le pays more attentions to his fighting career Frank Shamrock would have to be my pick and I'm not a fan.

Renata Sobral is great, Alister Overeem has also been very impressive (especially KOing Badr Hari) but I might have to go with Jake Shields as the best pound for pound fighter in Strikeforce.

  1. Riding an 11 fight win streek
  2. Has finished his last 7 opponents, 5 in the first round
  3 all american wrestler and jiu jitsu champion
  4. Current Elite XC champion, and rumble on the rocks
  5. Former Shooto champion
  6. Considered the no. 5 welterweight in the world by mmaweekly, and 6 by sherdog
  7. the only welterweight in the top 5 not contracted to ufc
  8. Wins over undefeated WEC welterweight champion carlos condit, yushin okami, former ufc middleweight champion dave menne, and former pride champion hato sakurai.
  9. great record 22-4
  10. has only lost 2 of his past 22 fight
  
  Ok i know i went into great detail, i believe its close between him and overeem, and even babalu. I dont even really like shields but hes one of the best. So don't count against me because i picked a gracie fighter, pick me because i told what i believe and because im a member of Frankshamrock.com. lol

The best Strikeforce fighter, eh? I'd have to say NOT Frank Shamrock. Why? Because that's what you said. All these commentors sucking up by saying "My pick is fighter X, if I can't pick Frank..." B. S. My pick is Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante. He's a great up-and-comer, training with arguably the #1 P4P fighter in the world (I say arguably because I'd argue with Dana... GSP takes it IMO). I think he has huge potential in Strikeforce and is gonna give us a TON of great fights in the future. So there it is Frank. I'm not sucking up, take it or leave it.

I gotta go with Chung Le, His style of MMA has yet to been seen and he's opening a whole new door for fighters with his Kung Fu. There may be a day that Kung Fu striking will overtake Boxing Type Striking! =) Love ya Frank

Cung Le's various styles consist of Sanshou, Tae Kwon Do, Wrestling, and BJJ. None of them being Kung Fu. I've seen tons of Kung Fu expos and demos and none seem to really be effective in the world of MMA.

I'm sorry Setherial i stand corrected Sanshou is one of two components of "Kung Fu" training but I would still consider Cung Le's style more of a kick boxer than anything.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I'm gonna have to go with Cung Le. The man broke Frank Shamrock's arm with a roundhouse kick (an unfortunate outcome, I hate to see an athlete put out of commission due to injury: rematch?). He gets points for having a unique style, one which I suspect keeps opponents guessing more than the standard Muay Thai/Western Boxing/BJJ mashup; not that that particular mix isn't effective, it's just that it can pay off to mix it up a bit.
The fact that's he's undefeated thus far says something about his skills, although he's only fought a few cage fights to date so, y'know, time will tell. He's got my vote, though.

i'm gonna go with a true fighter, a well rounded mixed-martial artist. this guy's got fighting in his blood, and david heath's for that matter. yeh i choose the brazilian legend that is renato "bablu" sobral. if he gets his wish to fight tito that will the two best in strikeforce to have taken him out XD
